The backwaters are a self supporting Eco-system, a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. Teeming with aquatic life, the backwaters of Kerala offer a peaceful setting for romantic cruises viewing the vibrant greenpaddy fields and small, village hamlets on Kerala Houseboats. These boats were once used as Rice boats to transport rice and condiments. The boats are now converted as luxurious cruise boats fitted with all modern amenities.
